Riding

Grace and I have taken the nice weather as a good excuse to ride the horses over to eat in the arena the past few days. And, as long as we are going, we have enjoyed riding the long way through the back pasture and up and around the field past the pond. It has been quite adventuresome so far, but today the horses figured out the routine and did pretty good.

It has been good experience to pony Solomon along with us.

One little girl, 4-5 horses depending on the day, and a camera around my neck makes things interesting.

I lost Solomon part way, but the boys headed up on their own.

I still have to get serious and decide what to do with Solomon. The plan was to have him gelded early this spring and start his training. But, being I have been a bit preoccupied, it never got done and we may have foals coming next spring. I am not really mentally thinking I want to start training a two year old at this point. On the bad days I would seriously consider a good offer for him, but on the good days I remember how much I love the little guy and that he really is sweet and sensible and my dream horse come true. I am pondering raising calves all summer to pay to send him off to a friend/horse trainers for the fall. Time will tell.

Ah yes. Horses in the pasture. I have a couple and am embarrassed I have not yet ridden this spring. Always let myself get busy with other stuff and feel guilty for riding but you have motivated me. Tomorrow the GK's and I are back in the saddle again.
