A Quick Project

One nice thing about tearing down the old barn was the abundance of large rocks it left behind. The foundation was built mainly on loose rocks, buried and positioned for the logs to rest on top of. It baffles me how solid this structure stood for so many years with nary a nail or anything else holding it together. I love how we are able to salvage so much of it to keep the history of it here on the farm where it was first constructed. Just imagining the work that went into building the old buildings (and the nagging, I mean encouraging, wives behind them) gives me hope for one day having our own functioning buildings in place of them. But thank the Lord we have a skidsteer to make our end of the job a little bit easier, or should I say, Rob's end of the work a little bit easier. I have been known to run and operate the skidsteer before, but I do prefer running the kitchen much better. A load of those rocks went to a friend for his fire pit. Another load went out back to the campsight to eventually build a fire pit, and with more rocks left a load of those rocks went to our back yard for a fire pit that has been on the list for a couple of years now. And there is still another load of rocks looking for a new home.
There couldn't be a better way to christen a new fire pit than to find a bunch of kids and cook hamburgers on a fire for supper.
With marshmallows for dessert, of course. Thanks again Honey!
