Fare Trade?

We had the simple plan last night to bring 2 cull does over to the auction barn for their Monday auction. As easy as dropping them off after a long day of tearing down the log barn and heading back home. That is until I happened to spot a pen full of beautiful horses and especially a gorgeous little paint filly. I casually mentioned to Rob how pretty she was and he said, I quote, "I'll ask if their going to sell her tomorrow." Now this from the guy who just bought me a foal last fall to fulfill my dreams, and who only tolerates these mighty beasts because I love them so, and has them nicknamed the hay burners. Well by the time we left there we had coggins papers in hand and not one, but two, paint yearlings in a truck and trailer that was following us home and we were just lucky there weren't 5 foals. All for the trade of 2 cull does. Now I am a sucker for paints, and especially this dark paint. What in the world I think I need with 2 more horses I don't know, but then again, I guess it is all a part of why we wanted a farm and acreage. Meet Nika (pronounced Nee-ka). And Root Beer.

Forget the fact that we had to chase them around the pasture for an hour just to finally trap them in the barn. Or that they have probably never had any human contact before other than being shipped to the auction barn then to our house. Or the fact that the filly looks like she could easily be a wild flighty little thing.
They're still gorgeous.

And after a good worming, some good feed and say, oh, 19 good years of riding, we'll all look back and remember fondly how God brought them into our lives and how they have finally outgrown their reputation as bucking broncos. Thanks honey!

They are beautiful. We have a young flighty horse here too that, Lord willing, will be a great horse. Will you be training them yourselves?
