Those Chickens

In exciting chicken news~ we are finally collecting eggs on our little farm after nearly a year without! Yippee! The Light Brahma's that we raised from chicks this spring have started laying their beautiful, brown, half-free-ranged eggs. We are enjoying the pancakes, and cookies, and breakfasts from their contribution. And those meat birds? Well, there's still 13 left. I haven't gotten up the gumption to finish butchering them yet, and obviously nobody on Craigslist wants to butcher them either, so I guess they live to die another day.

So how old were the Light Brahma's when they started laying? I'm trying to fugure out how much longer we have to wait!

It was 6 months, almost to the day, before the Brahmas started laying Red Gate. We were about ready to give up on them and make chicken noodle soup:))
