A Little Tricky

One of the photography categories for the Fair is trick photographs and being we all know that "life is all about the Fair" at this time of year we have been having fun coming up with some trick photographs. Cole took these. And I took these. Fun stuff!

Right Where I Belong

Aaaahhh! My three week stint of being a career woman is finally (nearly) complete and I am right back where I belong~ on my little farm being a mom and a wife awaiting that big check to come in the mail. The first thing I did was sleep in past 6:30 a.m., then I sat on the porch for a hot cup of coffee with cream and sugar and read my Bible. Of course sitting out there in the cool, quiet morning reminded me of how much I missed the horses so the next thing I did was headed down to the barn and bridled up. On most occasions I ride bareback with just a simple hackamore. There is nothing like being that close to a horse. I decided to take Solomon with again because he loves to come along and makes me feel so guilty to leave him behind. What a beautiful morning! I wish I could capture the peace of being out back on the horses through the lens of a camera. We intended to just go around the cut oat field because the mosquitoes have been ferocious in the woods. It turned out that they were even bad out in the open. Most of our ride was a nice bouncy trot so that none of us got ate alive. Once we rounded the hay field towards the second driveway I looked up and lo-and-behold there was the man of my dreams running up from Russell's house. And he even took my picture:)) And walked back with us to help get the horses through the myriad of gates and others critters to put them back in the pasture. Then I even got to spend some time working with Root Beer and Nika. Aaahhh~ so good to be back home where I belong.

Busy is an Understatement

First, a compliment to all you hard working momma's out there~ wow! How do you maintain a home plus work full time?? In the past 9 days I have gotten called in to work for 6 days and have several more days scheduled for the upcoming week. I have a very flexible work schedule doing various clerical positions at our small town hospital, primarily in ER registration. The luxury of saying yes or no every time they call to see if I can work is one of the best benefits, but being I tend to be somewhat of a work-a-holic and we live only on cash and I really, really want to go on a little camping trip and one day upgrade my camera and buy home school supplies and all these little kiddos around here like to eat and keep on wearing holes in their pants and need new shoes so often, not to mention that Rob's hours have been cut, means that I have been saying yes more often than not lately. I heard the other day that the economy is getting closer and closer to that of the great depression. Now I can't say that I would consider it to be to that point, but then again I didn't live through the great depression and we are still technically a 2 income family. So I keep saying yes and off to work I go. I get to get all dressed up in nice clothes rather than my farm coveralls and talk to big people all day. But I sure do miss my family and all my little projects around here. Working at home is where I'd rather be, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
In other news the second fair is coming up next weekend. All the normal last minute projects are under way~ all those new projects we were not going to sign up for at the last minute again. It's always a fun time tho once everything is checked in and we get to enjoy the rides and the shows and the ribbons. Off to draw a picture or finish a quilt or bake some cookies with my kiddos before I have to go back to work again.

Ride #14

The heat wave and humidity that we have been enduring has finally lifted. The cool mornings have it feeling almost like fall. It was too beautiful of a morning to let pass without getting those horses out on the trails so I went and found Grace and we headed out. Solomon likes to come with, too, so we ponied him. I love that little horse. Down the trail. Past the outhouse at the cabin sight. Around back on the other trail. Down the cut wheat field. Back to the pasture. Put everybody away. Pass out the treats. Thanking God for another good ride where nobody fell off~ especially me:))))))

Early Morning Ponderings

Zephaniah 3:5
... and every new day He does not fail ...

Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide to the end.
Psalm 111:2
GREAT are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Psalm 95:6
Come let us bow down and worhip. Let us kneel before theLord, our maker.
Micah 7:7
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord. I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Take My Advice

Here's a little advice from me to you friends~ Never, never, never, never, never try to make a cute little quilt that you saw a picture of in a fancy spancy quilt book with 1" finished squares without a real pattern because you'll just get frustrated and have to re-cut and then re-sew and then rip out several seams and those pesky little squares still won't line up just right and if you ever do figure out how to get those pesky little 1" squares lined up you know the next step is to make lots of pesky little triangles. Especially at 10:00 at night. Okay??

More Kid Pictures

The girls asked me to take some pictures of them this afternoon since they were in their pretty church dresses. They wanted pictures that would capture their love for each other as sisters as well as ones portraying the feminine beauties that they are. Now how could I resist an opportunity like that?! We had fun playing around in the yard and in the garden and got some great shots. I love taking pictures~ especially of my fabulous kiddos!
